Create a job | Tutorial

A job is a group of tests that you run in sequence.  Watch this short video to understand the purpose of jobs, how to create them, and how to configure them. 

Tip:

The tests in a job should be independent from each other, meaning that each test should be able to run on its own. This will pay off later when you need to maintain your application.

For your convenience, we have also listed the steps for the main procedures below the video.

  • At the top left, click the menu icon and select Jobs. The view displays all jobs created for this particular project. Each job contains at least 2 tests.
  1. In the Jobs view, at the top right, click Add Job.
  2. In the Add Job dialog box, enter a name for your job and click ADD. The new job opens.
  3. To add tests to the new job:
    1. Click Add Test.
    2. In the Add Test dialog box, click the plus sign next to the tests you want to include.
    3. Click CLOSE. The tests are now listed in the Jobs view.
  4. (Optional) To reorder tests, drag a test to a different position in the list.
  5. (Optional) To turn a test off or on, click the switch in the On/Off column.
  1. At the top of the Jobs view, click the play icon.
  2.  In the Run Job dialog box, select the environment and platform, and then click RUN.
  3. Observe the run and provide user input if required.
  1. In the left pane, on the Schedule tab, click Add schedule.
  2. In the Add schedule dialog box, select the required options, for example to run the job once a day, every day, at 7am.
  3. Click ADD.
  1. Move the pointer over the row in the table.
  2. Click the pencil icon or trash can icon, as needed.

  • In the left pane, on the CI/CD Integration tab, select the tool you work with and following the instructions listed.

    Note:

    CI/CD integration requires that you generate a security token. If you have not yet created one, you will be prompted to do so.

    1. In the Perfecto UI at <YourCloud>.app.perfectomobile.com (where YourCloud is your actual cloud name, such as mobilecloud), click your user name and select My security token. 

    2. In the My security token form, click Generate Security Token.

    3. Click Copy to clipboard. Then paste it into any scripts that you want to run with Perfecto. 

    4. Click Close.
  1. In the left pane, on the Notifications tab, turn on the Send me notifications option.
  2. From the Notification channel list, select a channel or select Add new channel (you may need to scroll down).
  3. If you add a new channel, in the Add notification channel dialog box, enter a channel name and the email addresses of the recipients. Then click CREATE.
  4. If you added a new channel, select it from the Notification channel list.
  5. Select an execution trigger.
  6. Specify if you want to receive notifications on any severity level or only on a specific level, such as Critical or High and up.
  7. Click Save.
