Create your first test | Tutorial

Watch this short video to learn how to get started with Scriptless Web. We will show you how to create your first project and model your first test on the fly. Detailed steps follow.

For your convenience, we have also listed the steps for the main procedures below the video.

When creating your test, keep the following in mind:

  • The data center you choose determines the browser and platform versions you can select.

  • Scriptless Web supports the latest version of all standard browsers: Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Internet Explorer, and Microsoft Edge.

  • For mobile devices, you can select portrait or landscape orientation.

  1. Access Scriptless Web. 

  2. Do one of the following:

    • If this is your first project, on the Welcome screen, enter a project name, test name, and the URL to test.

    • If a project already exists, in the My projects view, click ADD NEW PROJECT, and then enter a project name, test name, and the URL to test.

  3. (Optional) Specify the platform on which the test will run. You can select a Web or Mobile Web platform.

    Scriptless Web allows you to create and execute tests on a virtual mobile device. You can select any virtual mobile device supported by Perfecto for test creation and execution.

  4. Click START BUILDING TEST.
    The project opens on the interactive modeling page, with the steps shown in the panel on the left and a live browser on the right. By default, a new project consists of an initialization step, a step that navigates to a specific URL, and a finalizing step. The test pauses after navigating to the specified URL. Now you can modify your test.
  1. On the interactive modeling page, to add a new step to the test, click an element on the page in the browser, such as a field or button. The element is identified with a blue border.
  2. On the toolbar that displays, click the required action, such as a click, text validation, element validation, or hover action, or also click the menu icon (three dots) to view more options and then click the required action. In the panel on the left, the action gets added as a new step. 
  3. To add additional steps, in the left panel, click Add step.
  4. To finalize the test, click the orange stop sign on the last step to release the breakpoint.
