Use variables | Tutorial
Watch this short video to learn about variables. For every action that allows data, you can decide whether to enter hard-coded information or use a variable. Out of the box, Scriptless Web supports 3 kinds of variables: special characters, global variables, and context variables.
This video covers all of them and provides usage examples. For information on variables that are available project-wide in all fields that accept variables, see Global variables.
For your convenience, we have also listed the steps for the main procedures below the video.
- On the canvas, in Basic Mode, below the data input field for a step, click Add variables.
- From the list, select the variable category, and then select the variable.
- On the canvas, in Basic Mode, select a step.
- Before or after the selected step, click Add step.
- From the list of options, select Variables > Set Context Value.
- In the Name of Variable field, enter the variable name, such as var1.
- In the Value of Variable field, enter the variable value, for example a first name, last name, or email address.
- To use the variable in any step that requires data input, enter <<variable_name>> into the data input field for the respective step.
- See our Add external data tutorial.
- On the canvas, click an element on the screen and select the disk icon .
- In the Add Flow Element dialog box, enter the variable name.
